Last week I carried on my pregnancy story with the 20 week scan. Once that is out of the way every thing starts to get real and exciting and we finally started to buy some little bits for baby and then move onto buying some big bits for baby. I spent so long researching everything, cots, car seats, pushchairs and it can be very overwhelming for a first time mum; I couldn't believe the choice out there! We chose our pushchair and bought it a couple of months early when it was on a special offer. Then we moved onto nursery furniture which you can see, kept my husband busy. In case you are wondering we put the baby gate up straight away to keep our cat out of the room; she is incredibly lazy and won't put the effort in to jump the gate! We decorated the spare bedroom with a fresh lick of paint and some new wallpaper ready for its new inhabitant. After spending so long doing nothing it all seems to kick in and I spent a good deal of my time preparing our home for our new addition.
My sister in law and friend very kindly threw me a baby shower about a month before I was due. I must admit that I hadn't really been that bothered about baby showers beforehand but it was such a nice day and me and our little squatter were incredibly spoiled with goodies. I agreed to it mostly for the cake but I had a lovely day. There were a lot of giggling, broody women in the room and my husband and other male friends left us to it. We played some fun games and I have some lovely mementos from the day. Everyone who came wrote in a little guest book and I have cards that my friends filled in with their guesses for when the baby would arrive, hair and eye colour and advice for the new mum. As we left the shower with our car piled high with baby paraphernalia, I started to wonder just how much our life was going to change, I couldn't ever imagine how different our lives would be with a newborn.
